     General Information
     
    • Processing time of documents for which notary services are required is five (5) business days, starting on the day of signature in the Consulate.
    • A person wishing to sign a document in need of notary services must master the language in which the document is written. If said person does not master the language in which the document is written, the documents must be translated before the appointment (information below).
    • If the document is not in Hebrew or in English, it must be translated into one of these languages and authenticated via Apostille.
    • Documents should not be signed before your appointment. They may only be signed in the presence of a Consular Officer.
    • You must bring all the documents in need of notary services with you to your appointment in hard copies.
    • Anyone requesting notary services has to be legally competent to sign the documents. The signer must prove first-hand proficiency in the language in which the document is written.
    • When requesting notary services for any documents pertaining to real estate, the signer must present an Israeli ID or a valid Israeli passport.
    • Life certificate appointments may be given by contacting the consular department. If you did not manage to contact the department within 48 hours, you may arrive at the consulate on Mon-Fri, 09:30-12:30 to receive the certificate. Be advised, arriving without appointment for this purpose is permissible however additional services will not be granted - to this end, a system-scheduled appointment is required.
    • A photo ID is required for identification prior to signature.
     
     
    Signing a Document written in a language unknown to the signer or Consular Officer
     
    A person wishing to sign a document in need of notary services must master the language in which the document is written. If said person does not master the language in which the document is written, the documents must be translated before the appointment. Translation may be done in one of the following ways:
    Translation by a lawyer in Israel who is fluent in both languages:
    • Lawyer must be certified as a notary public.
    • Translation must be exact.
    • Lawyer must add an affidavit to the translated documents, in which his personal details are included.
     
    Translation by a translator who is fluent in both languages:
    • The document has to be translated and separate from other documents. The document requiring notary services cannot be part of a booklet/pile/stack of other documents.
    • Translation must be exact.
    • The translation or original must be in Hebrew or English.
    • The translator would sign an affidavit of accuracy before a notary public.
    • The document as a whole must be authenticated with an Apostille stamp.

    The appointment is meant for only one person who is to sign the document requiring notary services. If more than one signature is needed, additional appointments are required.
     
    Please note, you may acquire notary services outside the Consulate from a notary public. Any such services will have to be authenticated with an apostille. You must inquire with a lawyer or the authorities requesting the notary services if this course of action would be acceptable.
